These Terms of Use govern your use of The Follow-On (thefollow-on.com). By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
By creating an account and accepting these terms, you agree that we may collect and use your data to operate The Follow-On and to pursue the aims of the project, as set out in our Privacy Policy. This includes running your account and, if you join a club, the club membership and community features described below. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
The Follow-On is an independent, volunteer-run platform that publishes cricket statistics for the Northern Cricket Union (NCU). It is provided free of charge as a passion project. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
Our performance and match data is derived from NV Play scorecards and from the NCU. We process and check this data carefully, but the accuracy of individual scorecards ultimately depends on the scorers on the day. Statistics are provided for general interest and information only, and we make no guarantee that they are complete or error-free. If you spot a discrepancy, please tell us via the Contact form and we will aim to correct it.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Please choose a username that is not offensive and does not impersonate someone else — we may remove or change usernames that breach this. You must provide accurate information when registering, and you may delete your account at any time from your settings.
You agree not to:
Some clubs have a page on The Follow-On, with a public profile and a private members area. To join a club you provide your first and last name so the club can identify and approve you. Membership is granted by the club, not by us. Your name is shown to that club’s admins and, once approved, to its members (for example next to posts, comments and availability responses); it is never shown publicly. You can leave a club at any time from your settings, which removes your membership.
Members and clubs can post to a club feed: text, photos, comments and availability responses. Public posts appear on the club’s public page; members-only posts and comments are visible only to that club’s approved members. You are responsible for what you post. By posting, you confirm the content is yours to share and that you have any permission needed, and you grant us and the club permission to store and display it within the site to run the club’s page. You must not post anything unlawful, offensive, misleading or infringing. In particular, do not post photographs of other people, and especially children, without the appropriate consent of them or a parent or guardian.
A club admin can select members into a team for an upcoming fixture. When you are selected, your name appears on that team sheet in the club’s members feed, and we notify you by push and email so you know you have been picked. You can turn club notifications off at any time in your settings; the team sheet remains visible to that club’s members regardless.
A club can remove content from its own feed. As the operator of the site, we may also review any club feed, including private members areas, and remove any content, in order to keep the site safe, lawful and appropriate. We may suspend or remove accounts or club access that breach these terms.
The design, layout, branding and original content of The Follow-On belong to us. The underlying cricket data and league standings originate from NV Play and the NCU and remain their property; we present them with the NCU’s support. You may view and share content for personal, non-commercial use, but you may not republish or commercially exploit the site’s content or data without permission.
The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. As a free, volunteer-run service we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its statistics. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under law.
We may suspend or remove access to accounts that breach these terms or misuse the site. You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time.
We may update these terms as the site develops. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the “Last updated” date shown above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Northern Ireland.
