Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. This policy explains which cookies The Follow-On uses and why. The short version: we only use the essential cookies needed to keep you logged in. We do not use analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
If you create an account and log in, our authentication provider (Supabase) sets a small number of essential cookies in your browser. These remember that you are signed in and keep your session secure as you move between pages.
These cookies are strictly necessary to provide the account features you have asked for. Under UK and EU law, strictly necessary cookies do not require a consent banner, which is why you won’t see one on the site.
We keep first-party, anonymous usage statistics so we can see how the site is used and improve it: which pages are viewed and for how long, where visits arrive from, and coarse technical details such as device type, browser and country. This measurement sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. To count unique visitors we use a key generated on our own server that rotates every day; it is never linked to your identity, cannot connect your visits across days, and we never store your IP address.
Because it stores nothing on your device and is fully anonymous, it is not the kind of tracking that needs a consent banner under UK and EU law, which is why you still won’t see one. We use no advertising networks, social media tracking pixels or other third-party tracking cookies, and we never build a profile of your browsing activity.
If you install the app or turn on push notifications, we register a small background script (a “service worker”) on your device whose only job is to receive and display the notifications you have opted in to. It does not track your browsing or collect analytics. Turning push off in your settings, or uninstalling the app, removes it. See our Privacy Policy for how push subscriptions are handled.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block our essential cookies, you will still be able to browse the public statistics, but you will not be able to log in or use account features.
For how we handle your personal data more generally, see our Privacy Policy. For any question, please use our Contact form.
